Week 13 - Georeferencing

This week's lab focused on Georeferencing by using the Control Points tool.  We learned to distribute control points and how to georeference raster images.  We also learned how to use ArcScene but after three tries, mine didn't turn out so well!

Week 12 Geocoding

For the Week 12 Lab, we were charged with creating a map including an address locator, using address matching to geocode and show a route analysis using the Network Analyst Extension.

Good ol' Arcpy

I can count the number of times I camped on no hands.  I'm more of an indoorsy kind of person. However, I was pretty pleased with this week's Lab work.  I had my struggles, sure, but things started to click a little more than they have (for this week, anyway).  Of course, it had to be toward the end of the class. This lab gave me a greater appreciation for people who create all these Google maps and the navigation system in my car that I depend on 100%.  This week, we learned about the two most common modeling tools in ArcGIS, which are buffer and overlay.  It was very interesting to learn how to manipulate the different layers that we've already learned how to use.  Behold, my 'masterpiece' for this week.

St. John's County??

Week 7 - Data Search

I've decided that this week, I'm protesting.  I mean...I'm from Jacksonville, so I thought I had Duval County on lock.  Imagine my surprise when I see St. John's County as my assignment. I thought about going rogue and just taking Duval anyway but then I considered my grade and thought better of it.  Now that I'm at peace with my decision, I can talk about this week's work, Data Search.  This week was interesting to me because I was able to see how information put in the maps can be manipulated.  You really can make it look however you want.  It's still a struggle for me, but...I'm pleased with my result.

Projections Too?

Things to be Excited About
  1. Pretty sure I actually created this map correctly.
  2. I'm turning my work in on time.
  3. I will be able to get more than two hours sleep tonight.
  4. Tomorrow is Friday.
I'm not going to lie. This one was annoying!  Ok, that's rude but man...  The good part about it is that I actually felt like I accomplished something since everything seems to be right on this map. This class has given me a greater appreciation of the GIS people at my job!  Coffee and donuts for everyone!

Florida County Projections

Don't you hate it when you finish your work, turn it in, then immediately see a mistake on it?  See if you can spot the error(s) in this!

This week, I was pretty excited that I actually recognized something from class while I was designing a job in my companies GIS system.  If I happen to be able to remember what it was, I'll post it with week six's information!  Although I am still uncomfortable, this week was a lot easier than last week, that's for sure.

Thank God it's Over

This section started out as my favorite, once I learned I could compile my own Top 10 List.  It ended up being my least favorite since I had to do it over, and over, and over, and over again.  I'm very happy to move on to the module 5!
